Step 1: Look up your OT/OTA license.

To begin the process, I always double-check that my license is displaying correctly. You can look up your Missouri occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant license here.

Step 2: Confirm the Missouri OT continuing education requirements.

It’s always good to double check for any updates to your 2025 licensing cycle. (One year, I completed ALL of my state of Nebraska requirements only to find out that they were waived due to COVID. 😭)

But, to get you going here is the information I found, with links to where I found it.

Here are the basic OT/OTA CEU/CCC requirements in Missouri:

Due every 2 years at time of license renewal (July 1 – June 30 of odd years)

How many hours are required?

  • OTs and OTAs need 24 education hours every 2-year cycle
  • New licensees must complete a prorated number of hours (about 1 CEU per month of licensure in the renewal period)

Requirements:

  • Documentation proving completion of education hours is required
  • Hold on to your documentation for 2 years after license renewal

You may be randomly audited to demonstrate completion of your education hours, but don’t worry. The Missouri OT Board put together this helpful guide to successfully completing a continuing competence audit.

See full chapter for more details.

(7) Audit of Continuing Competency Activities. (A) A licensee is subject to an audit of the continuing competency activity documentation after the time of license renewal. (B) The board may audit continuing competency activities as time and resources permit. (C) Upon request, the licensee shall submit to the board for review the continuing competency credit documentation verifying successful completion of continuing competency requirements. Licensees shall assist the board in its audits by providing timely and complete responses to the board’s inquiries.
