Wide Range Assessment of Visual Motor Abilities (WRAVMA)
What It Measures
The WRAVMA looks at how well a child's eyes and hands work together — the visual-motor skills behind things like handwriting, copying shapes, and using small objects. A child completes three short activities: copying designs, matching visual patterns, and placing pegs in a pegboard as quickly as possible, giving a picture of both visual-motor coordination and fine motor speed.
Designed for children and adolescents ages 3 to 17, the WRAVMA produces a Visual-Motor Integration composite along with separate Visual-Motor, Visual-Spatial, and Fine-Motor scores, each compared against a nationally representative norm sample of over 2,600 children. Occupational therapists use it in outpatient pediatric clinics and school-based (K-12) settings to help identify visual-motor delays that may affect handwriting and other classroom or daily living tasks.
