Jaime Spencer is an accomplished school-based Occupational Therapist from Long Island, New York, with 25 years of experience working in public schools. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1999, followed by a Master in Special Education from Adelphi University in 2005. In 2014, she completed a Certificate in Assistive Technology Applications at California State University, Northridge. Jaime combines this clinical, educational, and assistive technology expertise to help children access curriculum through engaging, evidence-based approaches.
Jaime is the founder of the widely-recognized website MissJaimeOT.com, where she shares professional insights, continuing education resources, and practical tools for therapists, educators, and parents worldwide. She recruited Robert Constantine as a subject matter expert to create Eyes First, a one-of-a-kind vision course built specifically for school-based occupational therapy practitioners, and has educated over 6,000+ OTPs through her vision courses since 2019. As an AOTA Approved Continuing Education Provider and national speaker, she has presented at numerous professional conferences including AOTA and state associations across New York, California, and Connecticut.
A respected leader in her field, Jaime recently finished her five-year term on the New York State Education Department's Occupational Therapy State Board. She founded the "USA School-Based OTs Looking for Change" coalition in 2018, leading advocacy efforts for improved working conditions and fair treatment of school occupational therapy practitioners in New York and many other states. Her recent research with Serena Zeidler and Kim Wiggins, Perceptions of Occupational Therapy Practitioners as Leaders Within the New York State Education System, was published in the Journal of Occupational Therapy, Schools, & Early Intervention (JOTSEI) under the Dean's Research Award at Touro College of Health Sciences. As a result of this and many other advocacy efforts, there is now pending legislation in New York State for Occupational Therapists to gain educational credentialing. Jaime is widely known as "The OTP that Sticks Up for OTPs & PTs."
Through her speaking engagements and online resources, Jaime empowers therapists, educators, and parents with her mission of "Helping You to Help Your Kids." She brings practical expertise as both a full-time school-based OT and a parent, offering insights that support the occupation of learning.
