About Adaptable Abodes, LLC
Based in Portland, Oregon & Vancouver, Washington ~ remotely otherwise.
Clinically Informed Design:
With over 25 years as an occupational therapist, I bring in-depth knowledge of how physical, neurological, and cognitive conditions affect daily function and home safety.
Remodeling Experience:
I’ve spent nearly two decades engaged in personal home renovation and collaborative design, which informs my recent professional focus on accessible home modifications rooted in both clinical insight and practical experience.
Collaborative & Client-Centered:
I love working side by side with architects, designers, and builders - ensuring that clients remain at the center of every design decision. My goal is to create spaces that reflect each person’s unique needs, values, and goals for daily living.
Complex Medical Specialization:
I frequently support individuals navigating spinal cord injury (SCI), Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis (MS), ALS, dementia, stroke, and traumatic brain injury (TBI) - designing spaces that promote independence, dignity, and long-term safety.
Credentials:
I hold both the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) credential and the Executive Certificate in Home Modification (ECHM) from USC's school of Gerontology, with knowledge of ADA guidelines (that go Beyond ADA!), and OR/WA specific building codes.
In addition to design consulting, I provide expert OT legal support services for attorneys and life care planners - including cognitive and functional capacity evaluations, defensible home modification reports, and cost projections to support care planning, trust disbursements, and injury claims.
