Megan works as a COPE-trained OT for Oakwood Creative Care, a non-profit organization in Mesa, AZ. She is an Arizona native, graduating from Huntington University with her doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Throughout her schooling she spent time learning through inpatient care and building a Parkinson’s disease support group and resource website for anyone to access. During this process, she encountered many individuals with dementia, only continuing to spark her passion for this community and the older adult population.
This passion and interest led her to her current position at Oakwood. Her position allows her to offer services to families living with dementia, with an aim to reduce care partner stress, improve quality of life for both the person living with dementia and the care partner(s), build on the care partner’s abilities and improve confidence in addressing behaviors related to dementia, and increase the likelihood of aging in place SAFELY.
Megan often says she has “big feelings” and she hopes to utilize that compassionate nature to come beside families living with dementia to provide support and care where they need it most.
