Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy - Breast (FACT-B)

The FACT-B measures quality of life during and after breast cancer treatment — how a person is doing overall, not how the disease is responding. It pairs a general cancer questionnaire with questions specific to breast cancer.

Thirty-seven statements are rated from not at all to very much, describing the past seven days. Twenty-seven come from the FACT-G core and cover four areas: physical wellbeing, social and family wellbeing, emotional wellbeing, and functional wellbeing. The remaining ten form the Breast Cancer Subscale, covering concerns this group actually raises — hair loss, feeling attractive, arm swelling, and feeling like oneself. Higher scores mean better quality of life, and subscales can be read separately or summed.
