Social Responsiveness Scale, Second Edition (SRS™-2)
What It Measures
The SRS-2 measures how much difficulty a person has with reciprocal social behaviour — the back-and-forth of ordinary social exchange — and how severe that difficulty is. It is built to detect subtle presentations as well as obvious ones.
Sixty-five items are rated from not true to almost always true by someone who has known the person at least a month. Alongside a total score, five treatment subscales are produced: social awareness, social cognition, social communication, social motivation, and restricted interests and repetitive behaviour. Two further subscales map directly onto DSM-5 criteria, separating social communication difficulties from restricted and repetitive behaviour. Results come as T-scores.
