I am an active OT in Northern CA, with 18+ years specializing in managing and integrating mental and behavioral services across civilian and military healthcare systems.
Michelle Burlyga, MAJ, a San Jose State University alumni, has been providing occupational therapy for over 18 years, with a passion for bringing holistic integration and generalization of mental health clinical modalities, functional cognition, social perspective taking and unique body and brain systems awareness to multi-disciplinary teams across youth, adolescents and young adult populations. She recently shifted from management at Ohana, Center for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health in Monterey, CA to bringing OT to Center for Developing Minds in Los Gatos, CA. Her clinical and management experiences include El Camino and Dominican inpatient mental health hospitals, and Momentum for Health adolescent early intervention psychosis community outpatient and intensive outpatient clinics. Michelle served for over 8 years in the Army Reserve, earning her Major promotion after managing the deployment behavioral health clinic along with forward prevention, restorative and crisis incident management operations. Michelle maintains active memberships with multiple associations and enjoys speaking at schools, workshops and conferences to support educating, advocating and integrating OT for whole-person care. She loves sharing her OT story and unique blend of her parents' careers in Special Education and Psychology. Outside of work, Michelle loves nature-based exercise, worldwide cultural adventures with her son and finding any opportunity to embrace laughter and playfulness.
