Scott Thompson

Scott is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy and the founder and owner of Thompson Neuro Therapy in Charleston, SC.  He is a Certified Stroke Rehab Specialist (CSRS), an LSVT-BIG-trained therapist, a NeuPTTech-trained therapist, and is currently working on 3 more certifications. Scott started his career in one of California's largest skilled nursing facilities and quickly learned that patient advocacy resulted in changed lives...especially for the neurological population.  This experience led him to seek further understanding about the neurological system and neurorehabilitation but also to seek jobs in various genres and environments of occupational therapy to become a well-versed OT. Work and school have taken Scott to six different states and offered him a multitude of experiences.  He has worked in the ER, ICU, geriatrics of all living situations, a hand clinic, mental health, drug cessation, outpatient in-home therapy, director & multi-site director, and even in the rehab tech realm.  However, neurorehab has always been his favorite which is why he founded Thompson Neuro Therapy. Scott has been a career-long advocate of occupational therapy, and actually went to school to be both an OT and a PT, but loved OT so much he never finished his PT degree.  He is a regular advocate and speaker for his local Stroke Survivor support groups and Parkinson's Disease support groups.  He has served as a district chair and executive chair for the South Carolina Occupational Therapy Association (SCOTA), and as the executive chair for the South Carolina Occupational Therapy Foundation. He is a lifetime member of his state associations, the AOTA, NBCOT, and WFOT. Scott has always dreamed of owning his own clinic, and has brought his holistic treatment style and technology to Charleston, SC.  He has plans to bring new technology and treatment approaches to Thompson Neuro Therapy to maximize the vast scope of practice for occupational therapy and to expand the limits of the neurological system.
