Role Checklist Version 3
What It Measures
The Role Checklist asks which roles a person currently holds, how satisfied they are with how they are filling them, and — where a role has been lost — why.
Ten roles are defined on the form: student, worker, volunteer, caregiver, home maintainer, friend, family member, religious participant, hobbyist or amateur, and participant in organisations. For each, the person answers whether they currently perform it. A yes prompts a satisfaction rating; a no prompts a reason for not participating. That third element is what version 3 added, and it is the clinically useful part — a role given up because of illness is a different problem from one given up by choice.

Learn More: Version 3 replaces old terms with current participation, satisfaction, and reasons for non-participation — a shift from measuring role value to measuring participation.
