Monika is a professional problem solver inspired to explore and bring more practical, person-centered solutions to dementia care at home, especially through collaborative, family-centered offerings.
She has always loved solving problems, writing and helping people expand into their own version of a more meaningful life.
She has most been inspired by trainings and in the use of the COPE (Care of Older People in their Environment) Program thru Drexel University. From local to international, Monika strives to build immediate and sustainable value for any community she is part of through strong relationships, trustworthy leadership and simple clinical innovations inspired by research that translate to better life for one family at a time.
Monika earned her Master’s of Occupational Therapy from College of St. Mary in Omaha, NE in 2009. Since then, she has worked in acute care, acute rehab, ICU, skilled nursing, outpatient, as an adjunct professor, home health, writer, podcast developer, and coach.
The majority of her career–and passion–has been in simplifying the delivery of person-centered, quality care in the home and community. She enjoys doing this through dialogue, both spoken and written. She has experience implementing evidence-based occupational therapy in dementia care using the COPE Program (developed by Drexel University as part of a Federal Grant from the Administration on Community Living (ACL) under a 3-year Alzheimer's Dementia Program Initiative (ADPI) awarded to the non-profit Oakwood Creative Care in Mesa, AZ in 2021.
She is also trained in motivational interviewing, healthy habit development, Skills2Care, Dementia Capable Care (DCC-S) and lifestyle redesign.
