Little Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire

The Little DCDQ asks parents about a preschooler's coordination in the situations they actually see — at home, at preschool, and during play. It exists because the standard DCDQ starts at age 5, and coordination difficulties are worth catching earlier.

Fifteen items describe specific motor abilities, and parents rate each by comparing their child with other children of the same age and gender rather than against a milestone chart. Responses run from "not at all like your child" to "extremely like your child," summing to a total out of 75. The items group into two factors, gross motor and fine motor. Age-specific cut-off scores flag children who may be at risk for developmental coordination disorder.

Learn More: The Little DCDQ is a downward extension of the DCDQ, not a separate instrument family. Only four items from the DCDQ'07 proved suitable for 3- and 4-year-olds; the rest were newly written.
