Patient Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation (PRTEE)
What It Measures
The Patient-Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation (PRTEE), first published as the Patient-Rated Forearm Evaluation Questionnaire, is a short questionnaire for people with tennis elbow, also called lateral epicondylitis. Its 15 questions ask about the past week: five about how much the elbow hurt, and ten about how hard everyday tasks were, such as turning a doorknob, carrying a grocery bag, and wringing out a wet towel.
Every item is rated 0 to 10. The five pain items are added for a score out of 50, and the ten function items are added and halved for a second score out of 50, so pain and function carry equal weight in the total out of 100. Higher scores mean more pain and disability. An international consensus panel recommended the PRTEE as the core disability measure for lateral elbow tendinopathy.
