Early Learning Accomplishment Profile - E-LAP

The E-LAP is a criterion-referenced assessment for children functioning below 36 months. Rather than comparing a child with peers, it works through a long sequence of developmental skills in order and identifies exactly where that child is — what they have mastered and what is emerging next.

Six domains are covered: gross motor, fine motor, cognition, language, self-help, and social-emotional. The therapist observes and interacts directly with the child, establishing a basal after eight consecutive successes and stopping once the child misses three of five tasks. Results give an approximate developmental age per domain. Because it is not norm-referenced, these are planning approximations rather than true age equivalents, and each item links to a matched teaching activity.

Licensing Notes: The kit contains materials for assessing 20 children with scoring sheets for three assessments per year; scoring sheets are consumables sold separately. Manual and activity cards are available in English and Spanish. Kaplan also offers paid administration training. Reproduction requires publisher permission.
