About NYU OT
The Department of Occupational Therapy, located within NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, is one of the oldest, largest, and most highly-rated occupational therapy departments in the United States.
We’re focused on educating both graduate-level students who want to become occupational therapists and credentialed OTs who want to earn a post-professional master of arts, doctor of occupational therapy, or doctor of philosophy degrees.
Highlights of Programs
Entry Level OTD Program
Expected to Start Fall 2024. More information coming soon.
NYU Steinhardt’s EL-OTD is to prepare students to become licensed occupational therapists, with additional skills in leadership, scholarship, advocacy, and advanced clinical competence.
Our program will prepare and train highly regarded, doctorally trained occupational therapists who can meet global society’s ever-changing needs. The 94-credit degree is completed in three years of full-time study, including summers and the January intersession.
Variable Credit Post-Professional OTD Program
We created a variable credit program in which students can earn a post-professional OTD degree with 27-36 credits. This may save you time and money. The variable credit option applies to students who have graduated from an ACOTE-accredited MSOT program within the past 10 years.
We’ve updated our program of study to focus more on the skills you need to develop advanced clinical competence, professional leadership, and teaching in academia.
