Bio

Alison (Ali) de la Montaigne is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for Midwestern University in the Occupational Therapy Program. Ali received a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Health and Human Performance from Saint Mary’s College of Northern California, a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Midwestern University, and is currently a doctoral candidate at National University pursuing a Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Instructional Leadership.
Ali’s clinical experience in Occupational Therapy began in 2012, and since has worked in all areas of adult practice, with most of her career working with clients in the acute care setting in the Intensive Care Unit.  Ali’s clinical interests include working with clients across the continuum of care in adult practice and with individuals experiencing homelessness.  

Ali teaches the evidence-based practice series in the occupational therapy curriculum at Midwestern University as well as 2 courses in the adult practice curriculum  Ali is passionate about helping students understand the importance of being strong, evidence-based practitioners. Ali’s research has focused on best practices for teaching, critical thinking in occupational therapy education, leadership practices in the OT profession, and clinical research in acute care and community settings.  Ali is certified in vestibular rehab from the American Institute of Balance. 

Ali has served as the Vice President of the Arizona Occupational Therapy Association (ArizOTA) since July 2020 and was re-elected for a second term, July 2022-2024. Ali is the co-chair of the ArizOTA spring and fall conference committee and chair of the education committee for ArizOTA.
