Bio
Dora Onwumere is an occupational therapist dedicated to implementing strength-based practices and promoting inclusivity for students with disabilities. She has worked for New York City Public Schools for almost two decades as a treating therapist and currently as a Supervisor of Occupational Therapy. In parallel to her professional roles, Dora is pursuing her Ph.D. at New York University under the mentorship of Dr. Kristie Patten. Dora's comprehensive expertise uniquely equips her to foster empowerment and inclusiveness across the lifespan.
Dora's research focuses on the skills of self-determination within the educational context. Her study promises to revolutionize the educational system by amplifying students' abilities to steer their own paths. Through her scholarly endeavors, Dora embodies an unwavering dedication to pushing the boundaries of occupational therapy, creating a positive ripple effect in the lives of students with disabilities.
